Jennifer Wroblos, School Director
My name is Jen. I am a person of strong faith and I have been working in daycare since my daughter was 2 yrs old. After serving 4 years in the United States Air Force, I had my daughter and became a stay at home mom. I wanted to make some extra money and decided that I was interested in child care. I started my first in home child care center in Jan of 1999 on McChord AFB. Then I found out that I was pregnant with my son. I closed my center in November of 1999 due to a condition with my unborn son. My son was born with a heart condition and had to have open heart surgery and many Doctors appointments so I had no choice to close. I started babysitting for friends and realized that I had a passion for Early Childhood Development. I started volunteering at the Preschool that my daughter was attending and started working in the childcare industry. I worked at Kindercare and Happy Days Day Care and Preschool, then I opened a center in my home for 4 years and worked with children ages 4 weeks to 12 years old. I also coached volleyball for a club team in University Place for 5 years. After the economy took a dive in 2013, I closed my home daycare and began to work at ABC Children's center from 2013-2015. I realized that I wanted to do more than just teach children and wanted to become part of management and to help and support teachers with their desires as Early Childhood Educators. I am so excited to be a part of the Cadence Academy team and working with such amazing people. I am going to make sure that all the teachers get recognition for all that they do and support from me in anyway I can give it to them. I truly have respect for what they do. It is not an easy job and because they love children so much, they do it without complaint and work hard every day to support each other and give the children a happy and safe place to grow.
Debbie Zajac, Assistant Director
Hello, my name is Debbie. I have been working in Child care since 1995. My training has been in Early Childhood Education. I have a passion for working with children and believe that they need love and nurturing in order to succeed in their developmental growth. I am a wife of 29 years, a mother and a grandmother. I have 3 daughters and grandson and granddaughter. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and going to church activities. After a year and a half as a teacher here at Cadence Academy, an opportunity for me to grow with the company came along. I am happy to say that now I am a member of the management team and looking forward to all the new and exciting things to come.
Denise Thompson, Kitchen Manager
I have had the pleasure of working for Cadence Academy for 6 years. I’ve been working in child care for over 25 years and have enjoyed every minute of time I spent with the children. I decided a couple of years ago that I would like to get out of the classroom, but wanted to stay involved with children. I love to cook and try new recipes, so I applied for the cook position here and now I reap the benefits of both worlds. I still get to love on my babies and make them happy by putting food in their little tummies. It makes me feel comforted that I can make something that the children like and want to eat. I am happy to be a part of the Cadence family and hope to be here for long hall.
I was born in San Francisco, California. My father was in the United States Air Force. We traveled across the United States stationed in 4 states and Bermuda for 3 years. I always loved children and started baby sitting at 12 years old. I was a Brownie Girl Scout and Cadet. I played sports as well. Basketball, volleyball, soccer and softball were my release time. I attended Clover Park vocational school during my Senior year and became a certified CNA. I married my High School sweetheart in 1977. We have 3 children: Tiffany 37, Courtney 34, and James 32. We have 6 grandchildren, who are the love of our lives. Thank you for the opportunity for the privilege to cook for and love your precious angels.
Sharice Pastor, 3's Lead Teacher
I have been working in the child care field for 12 years. I spent most of my career working at the YMCA of Honolulu as the Program Director. I love working with children and teaching them every day. Thank you for trusting me to take care of your growing Sea Otters as I know it is hard to leave them in someone else’s care.
I was born and raised in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. I have been married for 3 years to my wonderful husband that I met at our church. We have a 3-year-old son that attends my classroom. I love spending time with my family and exploring Washington on my free time.
Sara Ortega, Infant Lead Teacher
I grew up in a small Midwestern town in Nebraska. After finishing high school, I moved to Indiana to attend Ball State University. Midway through my freshman year, I changed my major to Child Development and haven’t looked back. I fell in love with this field and solidified my desire to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education. I graduated in 2012 with my Bachelor’s in Child Development and moved to California to be with the love of my life. I have worked with infants for over 5 years. I am now in Washington and closer to my family and enjoy getting to know and love your little ones.
In my off time, I love to read, draw, and photograph the world around me. I care for my nephew who has a rare genetic disorder and every day I learn from him. I am also a fan of almost all things nerdy and love sharing my world with my babies here at Cadence.
